Family Farm Weekend

This weekend was Family Farm Tours in Skagit County.  David, Amy, and Sienna joined us as we toured a few of these farms on Saturday and Sunday.  The Gordon Skagit farm was one of the best.  He had a lot of beautiful displays and many different kinds of pumpkins as well a gourds, squash, and freshly picked corn.  Sienna helped grandma and grandpa pick out a pumpkin to add to her collection of pumpkins.

I really liked this saying on the apple boxed

The whole farm had beautiful pumpkin displays
The next farm we visited was the Schuh Farm in Mount Vernon where we found out that Sienna is almost 3 feet tall!

On Sunday we went to the Sakuma Bros. where grandma bought some delicious shortcakes and blueberries. The Sakuma Brothers farm is one of the oldest farms in Washington and they always have beautiful produce as well as really cute home decor and gardening items.

We also visited the Golden Glen Creamery and met some dairy cows and a couple pigs.

The last part of our farm visit was to Taylor Shellfish.  They "farm" oysters, many different kinds of clams, and mussles.  If you have ever seen the Discovery Channel's Dirtiest Jobs, Mike Rowe was here, having fun, digging up clams and mussles.  I  have been shopping here many times before, but David and Amy have never visited, so it was interesting for them.  While we were there we tried the barbecued oysters, which were interesting, to say the least..

We had a really educational and fun weekend.  Next weekend Casey and Elizabeth will be visiting and I can't wait to show them around the area.

Will be posting more later.  DD
